Treatment of warts

Take care of your hands and feet!

Warts located elsewhere than on the hands and feet require a medical prescription.

Palmar and plantar warts, caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), can be uncomfortable and unsightly. Our nurse provides effective treatment to remove these warts and restore health and comfort to our clients' hands and feet.

The number of treatments needed to completely remove warts may vary from person to person depending on several factors, including the size, type and location of the warts, as well as individual response to treatment.

A period of 2 weeks between each treatment is recommended.

Prior assessment

Before any treatment, our nurse carries out a careful assessment of the client's palmar or plantar warts. This assessment usually includes a visual inspection to determine the extent of the infection and the best treatment approach.

Targeted Treatment

After assessing the client's warts, our nurse will recommend a personalized treatment plan to meet their specific needs. Treatment options may include:

  • Cryotherapy: Ear washing is performed using specialized equipment and professional techniques. The infusion of lukewarm water into the ear canal softens the earwax, followed by delicate evacuation using a controlled irrigation device designed for this purpose. A small curette can be used to remove clumps of earwax that are dislodged from the ear canal.

  • Topical Treatment: Cantharone is a topical medication commonly used in the treatment of warts. It contains a substance called cantharidin, which works by causing local irritation to the skin, thereby destroying the wart. Our specialist nursing team offers this effective treatment to help our clients get rid of warts in a safe and controlled manner.

Monitoring and Advice

After treatment, our nurse will provide detailed instructions on post-treatment care and hygiene measures to follow to promote rapid healing and prevent recurrence. Regular follow-up may also be recommended to monitor healing progress and adjust the treatment plan if necessary.
